OMIGOD. Did you see Gaugie's and my posts about daisies? That is the most severe and advanced form of the Dot disease. Be very very careful, Amicus. Those girls are over 15 and there is no cure and no hope. They are doomed to a life of cutesy and giggly behaviors and they will drag you down with them. Have you started interjecting "like" and "I mean" between every word? Have you started signing your name "Freddi"?
The other night at the opera I was standing in the interminably long and slow line for the bathroom at intermission. Women certainly have little bladder capacity. And the woman in back of me said, "I can't stand it. I can't stand it."
I said,"Is this an emergency? You can go ahead. They'll let you."
She said, "Yes, but it's not that kind. I can't listen to these women in back of me. I'm going to kill them."
I said, "Go in front of me. I want to listen."
And these two people in back were saying, "Like, could you believe when Turandot came out of the bubble? I mean, like, that was so cool."
And the other said," Yeah, it was like, so neat, I mean. Like then she sang, I mean, wouldn't you think, like-"
And I turned around and these women were I swear in their 40s. I quick turned back and said to the now in front of me woman. "My GOD. They're old."
She said, "They shouldn't be allowed to get older. They need to be exterminated."
This woman was not joking. Said it was bad enough to hear it from a 15 year old, but that it was really sick when it came from the mouths of adults.
It was particularly jarring to hear it from two nicely dressed women at the opera, where one assumes that the education and sophistication level is a little higher than one would find at a Hanson concert.
