Oil and gas prices drive drilling. The o and g industry is governed by the free market .... not on the American govt. That's true under both R & mainstream D administrations.

Example: Drilling permits UP under Biden



Here are energy stock returns under Trump and Biden:



Note that the industry was down even BEFORE the pandemic hit. The favorite defense of Trump's failed policies is COVID, but as we see it wasn't just covid that was driving things.

(BTW the stock price chart for Biden looks a breakout could be coming to even higher prices .. look at those higher lows ..... bwdik?)

The thing about "drill baby drill" is the industry isn't constrained by govt at least not now. Nor has it been during my lifetime. So pushing the industry to drill more as Trump calls for means pushing oil and gas prices down and that hurts the industry. The govt shouldn't call for more drilling or less drilling. Just leave the industry alone and let the market sort out supply and demand. That's best for the US and for the world.
