As a private tutor, I use to go into 5,6.7, 8 people's homes on a daily basis. You would be quite surprised by how many families of various religious backgrounds have a room in their home designated as the prayer or worship room.
These people do not go to Church, synagogue, mosque or temple except on special family occasions, such as weddings, etc. They may not like the priest, rabbi or conventional mode of community worship.
It is easier for them to pray or worship within the comfort of their own home.
As for your question concerning when a fetus is considered a human being for legal purposes, that depends on the State and the criterion they use to determine which age fits the bill.
Evangelical States make the legal age at conception.
Secular States that separate Church from State make it anywhere from 3 - 6 months.
I don't think that Science is the authority on all matters, but when it concerns legal philosophy, I give power to Science over Religious Institutions. And by saying this, I do not mean to degrade the power and authority of G-d in any shape or form, let alone disrespect G-d.
But I do think Science has more value and authority than most priests, ministers rabbis, etc. |
