Why would Apple pay coders to Id phone types an tell the user which type phone?

Seems to me like they should be paying more attention to quality issues.

& honestly... does anyone think Apple hasn't tried to impede competition for decades? They'd be better served in many ways putting that effort into other things, especially long term.
