The thing that I dislike about conservative Republicans, and especially MAGA Republicans, is their embracing and celebrating cruelty e.g. their incessant fight against civil rights, minority and gender.

And this goes way back 100 years ago when the Republicans, especially Hoover, would not help the starving people during the Great Depression.

That is why they voted in FDR in 1932 and the Democrats for the next 20 years.

FDR put millions of people back to work almost immediately, and funded social programs to help the poor and needy e.g. The New Deal.

The terrible irony today is the poor too often don't know about this history and are supporting the Republicans in great numbers, and they have never helped them.
