Inode, As an obvious, impossible-to-miss sarcastic, joking response to the question of whether he would be a dictator on day one. You're talking to a guy who didn't take his call for RuZZia to hack into Hillary's emails seriously.
This is different. "Dictator for a day" clearly smacks of "ends justifying the means."
If you followed my posts over the past 10 years or more, you would know exactly how much I detest the very concept of "ends justifying the means."
It is the direct result of postmodernism and the notion of truth being relative. And I have repeatedly called out Trump's postmodernism as both an asset and a liability for him.
I watched as Trump handled item after item -- from Little Kim to Putin to NATO -- with extreme deft and competence -- avoiding ALL war (only to have Biden and traditional Republicans get us neck deep into a war with Russia and keep us there). Oh give me a break.
The only thing that was "deft" about Trump's foreign policy was how he flipped the narrative on North Korea, from "closest to nuclear war than ever" to "Trump being nominated for the Nobel Prize." That I thought was pretty clever, even though I knew him kissing the ass of Kim Jong-un would result in nothing meaningful.
His lovefest with PooTin did not go the way you described it. Even while Trump was sucking PooTin dick, his staff was busy contradicting everything Trump wanted to accomplish with RuZZia. The result was an administration that frustrated the Kremlin and did not live up to the promise of Trump's PooTin fetish. (Good thing for you and the PooTin cucks, Trump will make sure that, if he wins re-election, that he will have no one but loyal "yes men" working for him in his second term.)
NATO? The only thing he accomplished was scaring the shit out of NATO and preparing Europe for a post-America future. It might be good for Europe overall, but it also means we have lost our soft strategic power. And for what? To cut the budget on defense? That'll never happen, but our strategic partnerships will forever be damaged, and that will harm our national security.
I will give you this, though. Trump dared to assassinate Qasem Soleimani out of the blue. It risked escalation, of course, but Iran proved to be rather incompetent when it comes to enacting revenge. That's proving to be true once again as Israel killed a bunch of senior Iranian officials in Syria.
No matter what, Trump's foreign policy can be characterized by his erratic nature, his love of dictators like PooTin, Kim Jong-un, and Viktor Orban (Tenchu's Thoughts: Trump is an Orban Cuck), and most importantly, the ability to influence him by merely stroking his ego.
The evidence is overwhelming. Absolutely nothing Trump did during his first term led to any lasting legacy of peace.
This is unlike Ronald Reagan, whose legacy lasted so long that even Clinton and Obama was forced to adopt it (though arguably Obama sought to undermine Reagan's legacy).
