If you read the article, those attacks (and Apple's warnings) are specifically targeted, usually to political figures or journalists. They are not mass attacks sent randomly.

Are you somehow at risk? Do you work in a sensitive industry or on anything that another person or business could want that could involve corporate espionage?

If no then I wouldn't worry, but you're always welcome to try an Android phone if you think it would be safer. I assure you, it won't be.

All smartphones will always be at risk for this kind of hacking done by state actors who can pay big money to have these exploits found and abused.
