The sad thing is that a father would even be in a situation like he was by having to try to prevent his child from taking a shot ( its not a vaccine) for "protection" against something where their vulnerability is essentially zero.
Again, that's not his call to make. He had joint custody of his child, and unless he can prove that the vaccine would have irreparably harmed his child, he had no justification for the domestic kidnapping.

Personally, I think he'd be better off pleading insanity. The Q Continuum does have a habit of producing insane people.
