When countries are at war, and in peril, they draft young men of all ages starting with 18 years old.
I registered with Selective Service when I reached the age of 18.

Ukraine is in a war for its own survival. Of course they're going to draft every able bodied man (and woman).

What's your point?

P.S. Korea also has mandatory military service for all men starting at the age of 18. Same with Taiwan.
