Another rating would be to try to gauge how many "analysts"
recommendations are merely price manipulations for their firm.
For example: is the firm a market maker, did the firm do the IPO,
was the firm active in a direction counter to the recommendation
in short time proximity after it hits the wires? At least then
you could gauge if a rating is and honest opinion or something else.

You've hit on a major flaw with the analyst system. I get enraged just thinking of the misinformation lobbed onto the public by analysts who followed Aware and Westell and not Amati. "Misinformation" being a euphemism for outright lies.

But don't get me started. :)
