It looks like the new 737-700's are enabling longer and more
efficient use of all their fleet of planes. For the longer
routes I've gotten a packet of snacks that seemed to satisfy
hunger, besides no one wants to eat airline meals anyway.
Press release today about new weekend nonstop service to
Las Vegas from Spokane and Tulsa. Therefore shifting planes
from slower weekend markets for pilgrims headed to the promised
land.
Whether or not the short haul markets loose revenue once the
longer route start, depends on the strength of those markets,
and how much confidence you have in the Southwest factor.
If I remember correctly, only a small percentage of passengers
are thru passengers on most flights.
As always, the question is whats the next new Southwest city?
From looking at the map, I'd guess at Charlestown or Raleigh
area. Any other guesses?
Right now there seems lots of resistance at $30. If Herb
and everybody is able to squeeze POS out ef everything, and
still substain growth, I've gotta go long.
