I cannot see how you drew this connection to Trump at all, let alone on this fact set.

Trump's issue is getting NATO countries to increase their share of its funding. He has said that he won't support them, that is, would break NATO, if they don't. (He'd just as soon NATO ended in any event.) His priority is on winning that battle. Meanwhile, the war is for western culture, specifically the part about the sovereignty of countries and obviating one invading another, a standard that would be lost if he wins his battle the hard way. A massive loss compared to a relatively few bucks.

It seems contrary to me that, as someone who is so vocal about avoiding war, you would be accepting of a value judgment that fosters countries running roughshod over other countries.

Short sighted, also, the willingness of the "Russia wing of the Republican party" to cede the broader culture war to Russia. You think woke is bad? Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
