I'm inclined to go a bit easy on Trump over sleeping in court. The guy has insomnia problems. Even if his problem has been caused by life style and he has fault, it's tough to be awake when you're not used to being awake at that hour. Body rhythms vary from person to person. I have a friend who has tirelessly (pun intended) tried to change her sleep schedule but never could. She's awake until about the time I wake up and then sleeps until noon. I never go out to dinner. Even if my face didn't end up in my plate, I'd have heartburn from eating so close to bedtime.

Not that the problem couldn't happen to a nicer guy, you understand, but I can't bring myself to go so far as to ridicule him over it. I can muster a modicum of empathy. Won't stop me from recognizing that it happens and that it's not a good look, though, unfortunately for him.

My friend and I would get together over lunch and we each knew when not to make a phone call.
