ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1998--HomeCom Communications,
Inc. (NASDAQ SmallCap: HCOM.O), an Internet applications company,
announced today that Claude A. Thomas, 55, has been elected to its
board of directors, and will serve on the audit and compensation
committees.
Thomas is a principal of Ambassador Capital Corporation, an
investment banking firm specializing in emerging technology
companies. In his present position, Thomas assists electronic
commerce and emerging technology companies with financings, business
strategies, strategic alliances and financial restructurings. From
1994-1997, Thomas was EVP, Corporate Development and Software
Solutions for CheckFree Corp. (NASDAQ: CKFR.O). Previously, he held
positions as CEO of International Banking Technologies and other
subsidiaries of First Financial Management (now First Data Corp.,
NYSE: FDC). He started his 30-year career with Electronic Data
Systems (NYSE: EDS.N) in the Wall Street division, and subsequently
held executive positions with Coopers & Lybrand and Digital Equipment
Corporation.
Thomas holds a BE cum laude in Chemical Engineering from
Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Marketing and Finance with honors
from Washington University. He is author of numerous articles on the
application of information technology to the financial services
industry in publications such as American Banker, Banking, Industrial
Marketing and the Boston Globe.
