More CWEI News Information on CWEI and Cotton Valley Play Reference Page 6 of Form S-2 " The Company believes, based on initial 2-D seismic surveys, that a portion of the North Giddings Block is on trend with the Cotton Valley pinnacle reef play. Successful wells have been drilled in the Cotton Valley formation approximately 24 miles northeast of the North Giddings Block. The Company has planned an exploration project in three phases to explore for potential reserves in this formation . " In a news release dated 10/03/96, the company reported the following: " Clayton Williams Energy has retained the services of Ed Norwod effective Oct 1, 1996 to lead its Cotton Valley Reef Exploration Team. Norwood was formerly instrumental in the discovery of several major Cotton Valley Reef wells in East Texas for Marathon Oil Company, a leader in the exploration and development of the Cotton Valley Reef Play.
