I agree, as long as the earnings are in range .78-.81, it will not affect the stock price. Once someone on TV was saying that Michael Dell is always aggressive, he always say what wall streets want to hear. Some companies are more conservative, like msft,intc and etc. I bet Michael Dell will give bullish tone in the conference call, especially when CPQ is making its move on DEC.
From looking at the last 8 quarters, Dell's earnings should be around $280mm, but I don't have an accurate number of diluted and basic share numbers to compute earnings/share, so,I am just giving a guess of diluted .76 and basic .79.
As for major news, I don't know if there is any, but a 2:1 split is very likely.
