The US has 10K troops in Qatar and the UN will never have a hostile resolution against it. The UN approves of sharia law. But the penalty for being gay is only three years in prison. All women are wards of a male relative and have no rights to marry, go to school or work outside the home - just like the UN likes.

This is exactly the kind of country that should have an outsized influence on our universities. They have a lot to teach us.

But I only floated the idea of universities divesting from Qatar. That doesn't have anything to do with our govt's policy or UN policy toward the country.
