Pentium Pros are not the same as pentiums. The new Pentium Pro motherboards are using DIMMS. These are not 72 pin simms.

You write that the average computer user will look for the best buy. This Christmas, they will buy the Pentium 166mhz. This means that they can also buy a Pentium clone if they want it.

The next generation of chips that I was referring to was the next higher speed versions of the Pentium Pro. The motherboards haven't been developed for these yet. The next generation won't be available until next year. There are also faster PCI bus specifications in the pipe line. Before the transition from 486's to Pentiums was underway, motherboards were coming out with VESA bus's. During and after the transition, PCI was the standard. Those of us who buy motherboards and systems look out for these standard changes and may forestall buying until we're secure that the new standard has been established.

I originally commented to someone posting that they had shorted intel warrants. The person wanted to know if anyone thought that it was a good idea. I responded that I thought that intel's run-up was over-extended for the short-run. I also responded that I felt that Intel should be over $120 within 9 mos.

I really don't care if you get my point. If you know your motherboards and chips, you would have gotten my point.
