Whitmer is a liberal who would easily carry Michigan over Trump and likely WI. Party split? Sanders is not a Democrat; he just caucases with them. Manchon and Sinema are out. I don't see a party split. It is all up to the DNC. They can do whatever the hell they want. One other thing. Most voters do not scrutinize the issues. Whitmer passes all the litmuses tests in regard to positions. Plus, speaking superficially,which is important when you deal with the American boob tube public, she is a nice looking woman who portrays well on TV and she got the chutzpah to stand up to Trump. The American electorate does not want an 82 year old finishing out his term and reliving what they have seen with Biden with Trump. Whitmer can win and she carries the same liberal credentials as Biden and looks much better elaborating on it.
