This is a perfect example of how the US economy works.

I adopted a rescue dog 12 days ago and he had a surgery to be neutered 5 days ago. I was looking to set up an appointment with a local vet in a small town. Unfortunately, they were booked up for the next three months. I said to the office rep that my dog needs a shot on May 3 and definitely needs a dental cleaning that will cost anywhere from $500 to $900 pending on how many teeth will need to be extracted. If you play ball with me and see me on May 3, you will get his dental cleaning from me. Plus, I want you to do some blood work in regard to him. The reply I got was all to typical: we certainly can fit you in Dr. ------ on May 3 at 9:30am.

Thank you so much, see you then.

PS If I was lower or middle income, no way do I get that appointment.
