Qone0, The F16 is a fly by wire aircraft. Easily converted for a AI pilot. "Fly-by-wire" doesn't mean anything in the context of AI. All it means is that the airframe is inherently unstable, so they have to use automation in order to make up for it.
Those are micro tasks, and "fly-by-wire" successfully does that to the tune of a hundred micro-adjustments every second. The algorithms are already in place, and they've been functioning for decades now.
However, AI plays at a whole different level. That's where intelligent decisions need to be made, such as "How do I approach a target," or "How do I evade air defenses" or "How do I shake this enemy bandit who is trying to get onto my six," etc.
That's the tough part.
The F16 is capable of 9G's. Yes, I know. The 9G limit is set because the human body can tolerate such G-forces for at least a few seconds at a time.
AI pilots mean that future fighter jets can be architected in ways that can break the 9G limit.
It's been discussed for decades now, not just in the real world, but also in the virtual world such as video games and Hollywood.
The problem is that such solutions only solve problems of yesteryear, namely who can win in a dogfight. These days, dogfights are a thing of the past.
This is also why the Su-57 Felon, a.k.a. RuZZia's dreaded "FIFTH GENERATION FIGHTER," is useless. It's probably the best dogfighter in the sky these days, maybe even comparable to our F-22 stealth fighter. I bet, everything else being equal, the Felon can even beat an F-35 in a dogfight (assuming the Felon can get a good weapons lock-on vs. the F-35, which is far from certain.)
But all that dogfighting ability is useless now. SAMs have incredibly long range, and even the most maneuverable fighters seem to have trouble trying to evade them the old-fashioned way. (Otherwise we'd see RuZZia using their Felons much more often in destroying Ukrainian air defenses, especially Patriot missile batteries.)
War has now changed forever. It definitely has, but not in the way you described it.
It's all about the drones now.
You know why Ukraine is doing so well against the RuZZian juggernaut despite RuZZia outgunning Ukraine 10:1 and outmanning them 7:1 in the hottest of battle zones? Let's not forget that RuZZia also has a measure of air superiority that Ukraine is struggling to counter.
It's because Ukraine is simply better at drone warfare. Many Z-bloggers will agree with that statement, even if the PooTin cucks remain in denial.
