A fair point... not that Microsoft and other companies are any better. Microsoft is legendary for saying "let's partner together on this" then developing their own competing product that destroys the partner.

Whether accurate or not, Apple is widely believed to have harmed the economics of the music industry by selling individual songs on iTunes, thus hastening the plummet of CD sales. Why buy an entire CD when you can get the one or two good songs on it for a lot less money?
