I had spent some time earlier today musing on the current state of things and I have finally come around to the conclusion that it's not fixable. The underlying values and wisdom are just not there. I reflected upon my childhood recognition of the good fortune that my family got out before the Iron Curtain fell and that I lived in this country during this time period. However sad the loss, it will be interesting to observe just how it all falls apart and to ponder what went wrong. Brooks, bless him, is running out of steam.
