Maceng, I have a masters degree from the University of Washington in Public Administration, and a solid background in the social sciences and economics. I also was in government for 20 years and politics for 40 years. I know the subject matter. Last, the word socialist is a misnomer, as it is used to denigrate solid social planning. No one is talking about socialism except Republicans who hate and bastardize it because they serve the rich who do not want to pay taxes for programs they do not need. The fact the happiest and most well run countries in the world are ALL liberal countries is not an accident. It is because liberals in general and Democrats in this country embrace science, both social and hard and try to run the government accordingly. The Republicans seldom use science and instead use right wing dogma like supply side economics. They don't even believe in global warming and evolution for Christ's sake! Look and the last hundred years of the most important social programs like The New Deal, social security, Medicare, ACA, unemployment insurance and on and one, all put forth by Democrats. Where are all the important social programs put forth by Republicans? What they do is stop such programs, not start them, and as such we are 20 years behind the modern civilized nations like the Nordic and Baltic countries, Iceland and much of Europe. The Republican party has kept us dumb and our social programs primitive.
