For years we've needed a rules revision. For the SI Majors, it is too much like a Lotto or a tiebreaker contest. It has to be discussed by active participants, or made by the Emcee.

As I remember the instructions, it was to be the total score over interim rounds and then after the 4th Round, about 288 holes for a par 72; but over 284 holes (by the team of 4) for a par 71 course like Valhalla.

Do people here (15) want to keep the tiebreaker a single pick as has been for years? Or make it even more challenging starting in 2025, for a 4-round total for the best 4 from a selected team of 6?

I have one quibble, the old instructions said "the best 4".

It really was seeking the lowest-scoring 4. Whether that's best or not best or nothing to do with being the best, a new rule can make it for the lowest-scoring 4 from a team of 6.

That would be a better contest than just picking the lowest individual score without going under, and not paying attention to the other 3 members of the team (to make the cut).

As currently, the top 4 of a team can change after we see rounds 2-4; paying no attention to a possible playoff score, just to the 4-round total.

If we make a change, the winning total will grow from ~275 for 1 to ~1110 for 4.

If there's no one with four making the Cut, it is a little more complicated.

But within Excel or Numbers, it's clear to see how it can be reported, and show the in-progress results, even as the back 9 approaches Sunday.
