Thank you for your response (s).

Actually, I already have the profile info on these
companies as part of my due diligence (I own a few
shares of each). I was more interested in an informed
speculative opinion.

I have come to believe that despite some technical issues
aDSL will win the home bandwidth race. (For an informed
viewpoint on some of these problems, see Bob Metcalfe's
op-ed on "the wrong standard" in the Feb 9 issue of InfoWorld.

Aware (AWRE) is essentially an IPO that claims to own
important aDSL property - specifically, they claim a proprietary
interest in the aDSL lite standard recently endorsed in
principle by Microsoft, Intel and Compaq. If (these are
big ifs) they do "own" this standard, and if it is in fact
widely adapted, they should do very well. It is worth noting
that AWRE is a "hot" stock: it is a buy on the short portfolio
list put out by Wired Magazine. Here is a link to the AWRE
thread here on SI:

Pairgain (PAIR) is quite a different kettle of data. A more
established telecomm equipment company, its growth rate
probably justifies the PE. In fact, it is substantially (e.g.,
50%) off recent highs. However, aDSL is only one of this company's
businesses. Here is a link into the PAIR thread on SI:

I'd be interested in references to other publicly traded companies
that are involved in this area.

Thanks.
