When the facts are on your side, pound the facts.

When the law is on your side, pound the law.

When neither is on your side, pound the table.

It is my opinion that, in the current trial against Trump, the facts are NOT on his side, but the law might be.

Therefore, Trump's legal team should be pounding on the law instead of the facts.

Instead, they destroy their own credibility by pounding on the facts.

This, of course, is in addition to all of the table-pounding they're doing.

I think Trump will be found guilty based on the facts.

But he may succeed in getting the verdict overturned based on the law.
