One of the rules was
If you pick less than two from the top-6 ranked players you can increase the number of 7-12 ranked players by that amount
Did we follow that?
Bryson did not have an owgr ranking. As far as I saw.
He gave up his PGA Tour membership, because he participated in breaking the PGA membership rules. And maybe accepted $800,000. Probably more.
I think his way of playing is antithetical to building the game.
He wants it to be like UFC. I want it to be a friendly game that has a skill level, but also skins games that have modest or even low level competition. And 3 sets of tees, for players of different skills, or who want their wife or children or friends in a twosome or foursome, or even strangers who share a cart and find a game in a parking lot or by the starter, or who practice on the driving range, practice greens, sand traps, to develop the game.
The game is a game, and it's not about changing weight with a trainer. Then it develops fewer players playing, and more courses going downhill, and proposals to convert courses to housing projects.
There are other possibilities. But I think the communities built around 1-2 golf courses and another sports facility, were grown by Tiger Woods, and Lennar (in parts of the country), and La Costa, including a related restaurant or the newer themed gaming facilities, that I think have a chance to roll out. |
