Since these so called "recyclable" bags are thicker and contain at lease twice as much plastic as the old ones, they just clog up the landfills quicker.
The plastic bags from Safeway are pretty thick and durable. There's a message on them that says these bags can be reused over 100 times.

I tried doing that, but it turned out to be quite a hassle because of how many I would need. They're durable, for sure, but they're still relatively small compared to cloth or canvas-based reusable bags.

If I'm going to reuse bags, I might as well use the cloth ones I have.

Going back to Safeway, I don't know why they chose to provide these more durable bags vs. the cheaper kinds that other grocery stores provide. Maybe to raise their DEI scores?
