Other things to consider with regard to cheap Chinese EVs ...
- They can help bankrupt Big Oil. (Don't tell me that this isn't an environ-mentalist's wet dream.)
- In turn, they can help bankrupt RuZZia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other oil-producing nations that don't exactly respect human rights.
- They can force American car manufacturers to innovate. Competition does that, you know.
- The U.S. won't look like hypocrites when we preach the benefits of free trade. Nations like India, Brazil, and those in Africa are paying close attention.
Of course, Brandon cares more about votes, especially from Michigan, than he does about EV adoption.
Will he backtrack on his anti-China protectionism if he wins re-election? I have no idea. It all depends on what the Democratic Party wants him to do in order to maintain power.
But make no mistake. Cheap Chinese EVs would be much better for the environment than domestically-produced EVs, if we are indeed facing a climate crisis.
And even if we aren't, cheap Chinese EVs would help ween America off of its long-criticized "addiction to oil."
Which makes you wonder whether the Democrats truly care about the environment, even at the expense of politics ...
