Dear Carl, yours is a charming post

So let me respond in the same vein. I can think back forty years. In those days I loved my 8mm movie camera. I still get great pleasure out of the fact that it enabled me to record my grandfathers seventy fifth birthday with everyone in the family there competing for his attention and a place at the center of the celebrations. Its all on film. My first love. Some thirty years ago I remember the words "appropriate use of technology". You remember those days when some engineers made Agent Orange. Some twenty years ago I remember the meltdown of the core of a failsafe nuclear reactor, the "technology" of its day. Some twenty five years ago I began writing computer programs.

I'm not against investing in Intel. I have on many occasions bought Intel stock. I am however convinced that an Intel monopoly is not good. They need AMD. Nor do I think that making money is everything or even anything worth sacrificing human values for. I do not lust to kill AMD the way some pathetic posters on this thread do. Competition is good. Monopoly is evil.

Think about one thing Carl. Is an obsession with Intel good for those people who believe anything should be sacrificed to make a profit? You are old enough to remember Richard Nixon in his heyday. Do you think smearing innocent people in the name of preventing communism was good for freedom? How far would you go to protect Intel's profits? I'm afraid that some of the people on this thread live by the motto "greed is good" and trash anybody that gets in the way of my making a buck.

Revisit the 60's Carl. It might still save you.
