Good news from NE BC -- the last evacuation alerts from the big fires around Fort Nelson have finally been rescinded that to recent rain and cool weather. (The evacuation orders were rescinded earlier.)

That said, apparently no one is unpacking their RVs after returning home because thanks to the ongoing drought, more fires and evacuations are expected as the summer wears on.

And they've been having quite the heat wave in the southwest US, breaking all sorts of records.

And I can give the final toll on my garden from that January cold snap I lost about 95% of the brassicas which usually survive through the winter, about 3/4 of the raspberry crop, and half my strawberry plants. Needless to say, the blackberries did fine...

And I continue to hear tales of woe from the effects of that cold snap on the farmers I buy my food from. It's amazing what dropping the temperature 35C in little more than a day can do to fruit trees and berry vines.
