We had a provincial wildfire update in BC today. Thanks to the recent cool weather we are not doing that badly, with no evacuations and 'only' 100 fires currently burning, but thanks to the ongoing droughts the risk remains high. For example, although the snow pack has been melting at only slightly above normal rates, in most areas the melt started with the snow at half the normal amount or less.

A heat wave, particularly if accompanied by a few weeks without rain, would likely drop us back in it. Hope we get lucky this year.
