Modems.........

Dan, hook up to the fastest connection you can given the following
restraints:

1. what is available to your given geographical area:
(Cable....vs....xDSL.......(ISDN still expensive)......"poor man's isdn" with Diamond's Shotgun technology....or just a 56K modem.

2. The amount you want to spend in monthly expenses.

I'm currently using just a 28.8.
My Trading computer will have an xDSL modem in it which will
be available in my area by June. $45/month with a 250 Kbps connection. That's when I'm looking to have my system finally assembled.

I'll go with who ever at that time has the best
multimonitor card combined with the software. I know Appian is currently doing an upgrade. Will wait and see what it is.

I am also strongly considering going with AMD Super 7 rather than Intel. Tom doesn't have hardly any problems with K-6 and their 100mhz boards and he speaks extrememly highly of them. He does find many problems with Intel and the RAM issue, but not AMD. He says AMD is way ahead of the game on 100 mhz boards.
