I think the biggest challenge for me is to find undervalued companies (and/or sectors) that have either company specific issues (that can be fixed by management) and/or selling at a discount to their actual Book Value because of the commodity/sector cycle low. Buy these companies at a discount and try to ride the cycle higher and/or participate in the company turnaround. ---------------------------------------- I like to make a lot of small bets and find that Richard has been really good at finding these small cap companies w/ such opportunities. For me, the goal is to stay ahead of inflations/stagflation; maintain and/or grow the purchasing power of my capital so I can live another day to make that homerun investment. Like Richard, sitting on the most cash in a long time and trying to find certain special situation opportunities to nibble at. I do think at some point we will get a stiff correction and that will be the time to step up. For now, no urgency to get the money working. I will start small and scale in when I think the time is right. ------------------------------------------- Hope all are enjoying their Father's day and take everyday as a gift. I heard yesterday from a long time friend going thru some tough times w/ his 96 year old Mom. He just needed to talk as he was overwhelmed w/ the situation (& grief). I think a lot about my Father and all the things I learned. Maybe the kids & grandkids can take away some of that spirt from Dad. We do it by sharing the German foods at get togethers. I know those Italians do as well. Our foods & culture brings us all together.
