a common delusion of those affected is that their mental acuity is still undiminished and they can grow quite hostile towards those who try to reason with them about the reality of their condition. I've seen it first hand and it's sad and painful to watch and experience.
Saw it with my Dad. he had been a driving instructor for over 20 years when younger but in his 80's with onset dementia he was frightening. Cali took his license away. He snuck out and had 20 keys to the car made. We'd catch him all the time stealing his own car. So would the cops. Finally found all the keys and put a stop to it but it was a very scary year.
