Re: Me thinks large cojones are a required attribute of your clients.

No risk it! No biscuit!

If you want to outperform, there are risks that need to be taken. If a person is unwilling to take them, then don't tell me you want growth, and by that I mean beating the S&P 500 Index.

When you tell me what's more important to you, I'll provide it, but the higher the expectations, the higher the risks. Gotta man up if someone wants to outperform. Not so much if they want to be conservative.

I have clients where I'm very conservative because their goal isn't to outperform the market, but don't complain to me when a conservative portfolio doesn't keep up with a bullish market.

It all comes down to what's more important for each person and the level of risk they are willing to take to achieve whatever it is they want to achieve.

I've spent most of my adult life in sales, and I know how to read peoples risk tolerance levels when I'm asking them questions and probing for what it is they can live with. If I couldn't, I wouldn't still be managing their portfolios
