It depends on the market. There is no question that SSO outperforms in a bull market. It might even outperform most of the time. But there are specific conditions in which it will lag SPY badly, even some in which SPY is up, so I was objecting to the use of absolute statements. Portfolio Visualizer is no longer a useful tool now that they've nerfed the timeframe on the free version. I doubt I ever used it for anything as short as a ten-year lookback. You can invest in anything, but it is important to understand what you own and how it will behave.
