this is much more telling...

>>"Customers then demanded the same prices from us," Cloud said. "When we declined to sell at these prices below our cost, Micron steadily lost sales and market share."<<

can we expect mu take the same tact now? will they refuse to sell below cost and see their market share shrink like a grape in the sun?

>>William Franciscovich, IDT director of SRAM marketing, blamed both Taiwan and Korean firms for selling below price in 1996, causing 1-Mbit SRAMs to drop in one year from $25 each to less than $2.50 each -- a tenfold decline. "We were able to stay in business only because we had other profitable products that subsidized our losses on SRAMs. But we can't continue in the SRAM market without hope of relief," he said.<<

tis is telling. srams killed them b/c edo and muei were doing ok. muei may do well this q. however, edo won't. they do need uncle sugar to subsidize them and subsidize them big. is this worth a 28 pe for two years eps out?

somebody be smokin'. those lefty luckies leave a stiff hangover, though. it won't be pretty. just enriching for me :-)
