From Wackenhut's web page: "In Lockhart, Texas, Wackenhut Corrections operates a work program facility for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Paroles Division. Recognizing the tie between lack of marketable job skills and incidence of incarceration, Wackenhut recruited private industry to establish factories within the facility, train inmates in appropriate skills, and under Federal Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE) certification, pay inmates for their labor. GED and college level course supplement substance abuse and vocational training programs offered at these facilities. Inmates receive life skills counseling and are exposed to a full-range of programs and activities that help them succeed in reentry into society. Although technically complex to develop and administer, these types of programs offer the best opportunity to impact recidivism."
