bennett, I'm looking for the reference and will post when I find it, but a G* PR guy (official company spokesperson)came out at the time that I* announced their military contract and flatly stated that G* WILL be doing 'significant' business with the military and had been in continuing discussions for some time. Don't forget CDMA was developed by DARPA (not the Mighty Q as some would have it) in part because it's next to impossible to decode. Thus, I*'s sat- to -sat advantage (no ground station to snoop on, no possibility of blowing up ground station and knocking out communications) is somewhat negated by their use of TDMA which any kid with a radio shack decoder can listen in on.
Not denying that the I* military contract was a big win (wish we'd gotten the damn thing!), but evidently the G* will have its day with the Department of Defense boys as well. Regards, Mike Doyle
