AltaVista boosts DoubleClick IPO Search engine still backs Net-ad technology By Darren Chervitz, CBS MarketWatch Wed Feb 18 21:53:49 1998 "NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Although DoubleClick probably didn't need it, Internet search engine AltaVista gave the Net-advertising player's upcoming IPO a boost Tuesday by partly addressing one of the major questions surrounding the company's prospects. AltaVista, a unit of Digital Equipment, issued a press release that noted the "significant contributions" of DoubleClick, whose technology enables advertisers to target Internet users more efficiently, as a major reason behind the search service's surging revenue and traffic."
