Reagan announced he had recently been diagnose with Alzheimer's on November 5th, 1994. I think he had been showing signs for the final 2 years of his Presidency. Had we known more about the disease he probably would have stepped aside but as it turns out, Reagan was able to accomplish quite a bit in those final couple of years. Had he been depleted to the extent that Joe Biden is today he likely wouldn't have sought a 2nd term.

On October 11th & 12th if 1986 Reagan met Gorbachev in Reykjavik. He was representing the globe and leaders like Thatcher were happy to have him on their side. The decline of the Soviet empire was now apparent and official. They were collapsing under years of mounting military spending and debt. Criminality was rampant and gave way to fringe groups like "Siberian Lives Matter." <----Joke

On June 12th of 1987 Reagan gave the famous "tear down this wall" speech. If you go back and watch the speech I think you'll conclude that he was still strong and represented the west well.

On November 9th of 1989 the wall between east and west Germany was knocked down. George H.W. Bush had been in office for about 11 months by that time.

There were other accomplishments that took place in his final years but the three listed were historic.

Unfortunately the S&L crisis and Iran contra marred the final 2 years of his Presidency. The S&L crisis was largely unknown until the Keating 5 (4 democrats & 1 republican - John McCain) reports became front page news in 1989. The 5 senators were all accused of attempting to subvert the regulatory process as far back as April of 1987 although some historians say it began well before that.

Biden's list of accomplishments will NEVER be considered historic and today he is not mentally fit to be POTUS. The media and even his own party are calling for him to step down.

I have to work so I don't have time to proofread
