Who is Jill Biden’s Trump-supporting ex-husband Bill Stevenson? He just spoke out against her and Joe Biden, and founded a bar with the first lady where Bruce Springsteen and Metallica once performed

Jill Biden’s ex-husband Bill Stevenson is adding his two cents to the fevered discussion around Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s “car crash” presidential TV debate last week. During the 90-minute CNN broadcast, the 81-year-old president stumbled over his words and struggled to recall facts and figures as he conversed with his opponent.

After the event, Stevenson – who was married to Jill from 1970 to 1975 – slammed the first lady for encouraging her husband to stay in the presidential race, according to US media. “The Dr Jill Biden who I’ve seen on TV in the last five years is not the same person I married or that I recognise in any way,” he told the New York Post last week. “She’s matriculated into a completely different woman.”

“I just don’t understand why she is so adamant about defending him and keeping him in the race since it appears that he’s struggling,” added Stevenson. “It appears that he’s struggling with everybody these days.”

He added, “She’s always been very driven. People say she’s the one who wants to be president now.”

Here’s what we know about Jill Biden’s outspoken ex-husband:

What does Bill Stevenson do?

According to US media, the 75-year-old is a former college American football player. He and Jill reportedly used to work together and founded a bar in Delaware called the Stone Balloon. Per The List, the highly-regarded college bar hosted performances by several big names early in their careers, including the Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Ray Charles, Run DMC, the Dave Matthews Band, David Crosby, Bonnie Raitt, and Hootie and the Blowfish.
Did Jill Biden really have an affair during her previous marriage?

In 2020, Stevenson told British tabloid The Daily Mail that Jill had cheated on him with Joe during their marriage. Stevenson claimed the incident happened in 1974, when “Bruce Springsteen was going to play at the Stone Balloon and I had to go to Northern New Jersey to pay him in advance”.

“I asked Jill to go with me and she said no – she had things to do, she had to look after Joe’s kids, Beau and Hunter. It was kind of a big deal to go meet Springsteen. I had no idea she and Joe were that kind of friendly.”

He noted that “one of her best friends told me she thought Joe and Jill were getting a little too close. I was surprised that she came to me”.

Stevenson added, “I considered Joe a friend. I’m not surprised he fell in love with Jill. Everyone who meets Jill falls in love with her immediately. It’s hard not to.”

He claimed that Joe Biden once “stole” one of his stories

Stevenson has called out Joe Biden on multiple occasions. In another instance, he told the New York Post that Joe once stole his prep school American football story as his own just minutes after telling it. “I just stared at him in shock,” Stevenson told the publication. “He just acted like it was his own story. I just told myself, ‘This must be what politicians are like.’”

Why did Bill Stevenson call them the ‘Biden crime family’?

In another interview, Stevenson parroted one of Trump’s defamatory phrases when he told Newsmax that he’d encountered the “Biden crime family” and was allegedly approached by President Biden’s brother Frank after he and Jill divorced in the 1970s.
“Frankie Biden of the Biden crime family comes up to me and he goes, ‘Give her the house or you’re going to have serious problems,’” he told the TV channel. “I looked at Frankie and I said, ‘Are you threatening me?’ and needless to say, about two months later, my brother and I were indicted for that tax charge for US$8,200.”

“I could not believe the power of Joe Biden and the Department of Justice. I couldn’t believe it,” he added.

Bill Stevenson supports Donald Trump

Stevenson has been vocal about his support for Trump over the years. “It makes me cringe every time he calls Trump a liar, because I’m telling you right now, there is no better liar than President Biden,” Stevenson told the New York Post. “He’s just a bad person. I’m probably one of the few people outside his family who has known him for 50 years.”
Per the source, Stevenson is set to publish a book called The Bidens: The Early Years next month. “Look, I’m not a doctor or a psychiatrist but yeah, I felt he lost a step three or four years ago. Now I think it’s more like a couple of steps. Do I feel badly for him? No, because he did some horrible things to me and my family,” he added.
