I don't think you're correct but in the future AI will figure this out for us.

The Smallpox vaccine worked when a Doctor noticed that milkmaids weren't catching smallpox. The reason was they'd catch cowpox from milking cows which created immunity. So, he took a needle, stuck it in an open cowpox sore and then jabbed a you kid with the needle and a vaccine was born

Kind of a cool story given the fact that it happened in the 1700's. It was a gutsy call - the kid could have died the the Doc's hunch war correct
