The best way to move in that direction is $200 bbl oil.

While I generally agree with you there isn't enough copper, nickel and manganese to make the batteries required to meet mandated deadlines.

Even if reserves of these metals were found with permitting restrictions it would be ten years before one new deposit could be put in production.

Mining and smelting these metals will not be done with electric cars, it will be done with large diesel spewing equipment and will create a large carbon footprint.

I was in a Tesla driving from Springbank airport to the City of Calgary and a kid in a Challenger challenged us. We blew his doors off and then we had to make a U-turn and go back to the airport because that bravado drained the battery.
