Interesting perception. My first comment is: I recommend that you take a look at product if possible. There are dealers in your area I am sure, and most of the dealers have made it possible for those of us that wish to look at one physically. If that is not possible, then the next best thing is to call a dealer and ask for their input as to description of the CAC product and their opinion of the merits of the design. I think a contact could be arranged. Your phrase "cut above" is correct. The qualified comments I have personally hear from an experienced CAC individual is that TCT could realistically increase the warranty from 5 yrs./500,000 miles to "lifetime" of a class 8 truck. Now, that brings me to the comments about DD. It is true they only build engines. In recent years, warranty has been the industry focus, with the truck customer making more demands, etc. It is logical that any product that also satisfies the warranty requirements of the customer is going to attract the attention of the other manufacturers of truck components. One component that enhances the life of another component will impact the thinking of the engineering decision makers. My philosophy came out of conversation with industry people over the course of the last 3 years, being involved with this "air-quality" solution TCT has designed.
You may want to ask your DD contact if they have discussed plans to re-introduce the engine design that preceeded the Series 60 that made DD popular. From what I hear the benefits of going back to that engine design are what makes the TCT cooler an advantage directly.
To address the WIDE acceptance comments, I admire TCT's management for approaching the aftermarket first. Acceptance there is important for 2 reasons: 1) It allows a start-up to grow at a reasonable rate, building relationships and infrastructure. 2) The ultimate customer (the trucker) is the best marketer to the OEM's. (it is an education process) Would you elaborate on the Westcast style please.
All I have heard about EPS is that they should be on target. I had an $.18
EPS in my mind.
