I think that buyout remark was a joke.

Here's what I think is happening; the market makers have a vested interest in keeping the stock under 30 until after the Feb. options expire. Since the stock doesn't have a lot of upward power, it's relatively easy for them to do so, shorting the stock as it moves upward and buying back on the brief downturns.

If the stock had had a great deal of upward momentum, we would a seen a sharp spike once the stock went over 30 as the market makers would need to buy stock to cover their short calls. This creates a momentum similar to a short squeeze and would have been fun to watch.
