Bill,
The system is designed to minimize political hit jobs.
So why shouldn't Jack Teixeira be prosecuted by someone who is appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate?

The answer is that Trump is special. Therefore the state has to jump through hoops in order to avoid accusations of "political hit jobs."

The standard by which a former president is prosecuted is much higher than what a lowly airman has to go through.

Two-tiered justice system.
