Hi DLO,
One thing that my cash reserve does for me is to effectively substitute for the lack of any dividend. At my present cash balance, and a 5% MMF yield I am making about 2.1% on the account while it is "resting." This is better than the current average yield of 1.8% that the Value Line 1700 is showing.

Total return is important to me, as I'm retired, and this is one way to get some income while I wait for the growth.

My market risk indicators had been showing the possibility of a nice rally as of around the first of the year. Looks like it was a good call this time.
